I made the cardinal sin of dropping a wire in my bell housing. I was pulling the bands out and was pulling in a fish wire to guide in the new band. It slipped off and dropped down into the bell housing. I have tryed fishing, maginets, and putting wires on the ring gear and cranking it over trying to sweep it out but unsuccessful.I am thinking og pulling the pan but wanted to ask for thoughts before I did. The hogshead is off.

Put a rag into the magnets on the fly wheel then slowly crank the motor over and see if the rag drags the wire up. That is what worked to remove a dropped nut for me some tears ago.

A group of guys were working in the back of a Napa Store one time installing bands. We were almost done when the owner dropped a wrench down in the transmission. We tried and tried to get it out but could not. Finally the manager of the store took the inspection plate off the bottom of the oil pan reached into the transmission and retrieved the wrench.
