Me Thinks Perhaps I Have A Passenger .....
Picked up this Model T Snowmobile last night in
Massachusetts ....
No fog - no mist when these pictures were taken
Consecutive frames show as mist
Oh well .......
Jim
Great pictures Jim. What I'm assuming your saying here, is this passenger wasn't "with" you when you took these pics. Looks like he's not there in the second pic. My guess is, you've got yourself a fella from the past with this T-mobile. Very interesting. I'd be doing a whole lot of research on this one, find out if anyone had any tragic events or maybe a former owner of when it was a car, just can't let go. But I think ya definitely got yourself a ghost passenger. Just so he's friendly, and I bet he is.
Jim, thats just old Jacob Marley checking things out.

Jim
Can you give me more information and picture pictures of the skies and track assembly of this unit when you off load it. Tying to identify as many styles that were used. Looks like a 44" gage.
Also if available the name and contact info. of the seller or owner.
Bob
Looks like the photographer needs to concentrate on inhaling when taking a photo.
Ha .....
Me No Smokee .....
I have taken a LOT of pictures - never had this happen before ....
Jim
It might be possible that was my breath
and the temperature difference showed up
in the pictures ....
But I took about 50 pictures, it only showed up
in those frames.
I have taken dozens of pictures at dusk
in Winter but never has mist appeared ....
Jim
Could the camera have been nice and warm in the car, then fogged up when taken out in the cold?
I still think it is exhaled air, given that the temperature is on the cool side. If you can see your breath when you exhale, you will not be surprised to see this on a photo, but if you can not see your breath, then you must remember that if there is a flash used, it will intensify the water vapor in the light.
Bob in WA:
The previous owner is a private person but well
known in the Model T Snowmobile Community
Send me an email @ enclosed_ford_transport@hotmail.com
I will give you his name & number ....
Jim
A. Gustaf:
I would normally agree with you 100% ....
But this trip - it is very interesting
I stopped at a toll road plaza to start this thread yesterday morning - went out to my truck
and the starter was out
Starter was (6) months old with lifetime warranty
but parts house was not in New York so I had to
buy another one ....
$200.00 for a new starter
On the way to get this snowmobile ....
Left rear dually inner tire peeled off a section
of tread - took out my dually fender and fuel filler hose .....
Tires on that side were (6) months old
Cooper Discovery tires made in Findley, Ohio
No air pressure loss - no evidence of impact with
road debris - just peeled like an orange
I never had that happen before .....
$400.00 for (2) tires
Not sure about a fender and fuel filler hose yet
The kicker though - this morning I wake up
after sleeping inside the truck overnight,
head inside to take a shower at a truck stop
The running lights on the trailer come on AS I WALK AWAY FROM THE TRUCK
Just ..... come ....... on
No running lights on the truck are on or
have come on ......
So I check the headlight switch - it is off
I have to unplug the 7 way plug to get them to go off .....
I come out - plug the 7 way plug back in and no
trailer running lights go on
Turn on the headlight switch - they come on as normal - go off as normal when I turn the switch off
This snowmobile is headed for the MTFCA Museum
in Richmond, IN where I am dropping it off tomorrow
All I can say is that this has been:
A very interesting and costly trip
That is not over yet .......
Jim
Jim...well, I bet I open up "pandoras box" here...but frankly as I alluded to towards the top with my previous post, you've got yourself a spirit, ghost, call it whatever along for the ride. Is this person a former owner? Did he have some traumatic event associated with this vehicle? Who knows. But every once in a while, maybe more than we are willing to believe, there's "someone" or "something" associated with things like these although it's usually a fixed structure, not a moving vehicle. But, as much as I love all my Model T's, I can certainly see myself "hanging around" for a while after I die just to have some more fun, and maybe even rattle a few chains!!
It'd be nice to hear about the history of this car, as it was no doubt a car long before it became a snowmobile! I think just maybe a certain previous owner either likes the idea and wants some fun, or heaven forbid is pissed off about it, as that might cause an issue for whoever it is that is receiving this vehicle.
Just my two cents. I know a lot of people (including my wife) will disagree!
Tim
P.S.... and I LOVE your dog!! Wonder how she's reacting...you didn't mention anything.
Tim,
Thanks for the comments ...
The dog belongs to the owner & his wife (pictured)
I have a feeling something friendly (hopefully)
is catching a ride - and draining my pocketbook in the process
After I drop off I will call him (I always do that anyway) and ask about the history
Regardless - this is a fine acquisition for the MTFCA Museum .....
Jim
Jim,
Have you talked to your hitchhiker and told them this vehicle is going to the model t museum for everyone to admire and where it will be preserved? just a thought.
G.R.
Jim...& G.R.--had the same thought, as up until now I didn't know it was going to the museum. Wow, this could be VERY interesting for Ruth!! I truly truly believe this "passenger" is connected to this vehicle, and indeed is REAL. It'll be interesting to see how many or if any, subscribe to this thought. And of course those who don't. I just hope "he" leaves your equipment alone now so as not to cost you more money.
Please keep us posted on this. I for one am very intrigued and interested in this!
I agree with G.R. Let him know what's going on.
I used to laugh at people who believed in this kind of stuff until I had my own personal experiences. Now I'm one of the "nuts"
I don't think Ruth is there anymore ...
Jay is out of town tomorrow
Gary & Mark are supposed to help me unload
I will take plenty of pictures .....
Jim
Did anyone else notice the ' white orb ' in the last picture ... ?
Jim
That is from the ghosts having a snowball fight.
Doug,
I think it also might be ...
" Ghost Dandruff "
Seriously though - it only showed up in that frame
When I took these images it was at dusk
with no mist - fog - snow - wind
Interestingly enough - the wife is in every
frame that had mist and clearly in the only
one with the " white orb " ....
The interior shot of the snowmobile loaded in the trailer featured her but I cropped her out of the image ......
The only thing that I can't explain away readily
yet - the trailer running lights turning on
That really kinda freaked me out this morning ....
Jim
Jim
So much so I have changed my name to
Jim
Jim
About your inside dually it is common for the inside wheel to fail because of higher temperatures created by the brakes. Some tire shops will put -5 pounds of air on the inside to compensate for the increase in temperature. There are accessories available that connect the two tires together so that the air pressure remains equal to avoid inner dual problems. Merry Christmas Dave
David,
I have heard of that
But (8) years and (4) Ford F350 Duallies towing
at 55 m.p.h. over 1 million miles .....
It never happened before
It was 45 degrees out and raining ...
Brakes were completely done all the way around
(2) months ago
New drums - pads - hardware on the rear
The timing is .... interesting
Plus - the tire peeled tread away
No loss of pressure - casing is intact
Jim
Jim.
I've had that happen before on my PJ trailer with two 12K axles and dual wheels at each corner. I frequently overload that trailer. I think defective tires--tire people say must be under inflation, overweight, excess speed; couldn't be their fault.
Well, I'm glad Tyler is onboard with this too! You're not nuts Tyler. Be interested to hear of your experience. Soooo, here's mine: Previously lived in century old house. Several times would feel the coldest "breath of air" across my face in bed at night. We had new windows put in, so wasn't drafts. Wife felt some too, but she's a "non believer". Then on another instance, in the living room there was this neat "bump out" window with the hot water radiator and steel top that she had tons of plants on, including some small cacti. Woke up one morning to see one of the cactus clear over to the right of this radiator plant stand laying on its side in the middle of the hutch, a good 8 feet of a straight line "shot" from where the cactus previously resided. Now you tell me what would do that? Cactus DO NOT jump out of their pots on their own!
Later research that we did revealed the first owner of the house died, in our bedroom, in his sleep. Hmmm....you decide. I know it was him!
Well .....
Radio quit working ......
I rolled down the passenger rear electric window
on my quad cab dually - that was a mistake
Window will not roll up
Worked fine last week - motor will roll it down
but not up now
Switch on door is o.k.
Motor ..... just ..... went for raising the window
They do that
But - again with the timing
I have NEVER had this many issues over a two day period with any vehicle I have owned .....
Found a piece of cardboard for the window
I am charging up my 12VDC drill to drill out the
motor rivets in the door - maybe I can raise
the window manually .....
All the issues I am having since pick up
of this snowmobile are electrical
Jim
I've heard about lots of cases where houses are haunted, but not so much about cars or objects - but there seems to be quite a few stories about cars too from this long thread at a VW forum: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1424744
Hopefully you'll reach your destination without too much more trouble, Jim. Many haunting cases describes unexplained manipulation of electrical devices so it's not unique, just extraordinarily intense. This snowmobile may become trouble for the museum if whatever the cause isn't properly taken care of.. by a priest or a rescue medium depending on the beliefs of those responsible.
Roger,
Thanks for the post
Got the window motor drilled out
Raised the glass and secured it with zip ties
on the channel frame to hold it up
No more posts from me on this until I drop off
and call the previous owner to get a background on the history ....
I am curious
All of this is maybe and probably all coincidental
Then again .....?????
Jim
I can't speak about the breakdowns other s___ happens. I can comment on the ghostly apparitions. Under the right conditions, flash reflected off the moisture in your breath will cause some strange effects.
Below are two night time flash photos I just snapped. The first shows no strange effects however in the second if you look on the left side you can quite clearly make out a ghostly apparition. There are no photoshop tricks here and I only took a couple shots but it just happens to look like a ghostly skull and upper body floating on the left side of the image where my breath was in the cold night air.
Just simple physics and light playing with gullible peoples minds.
Jim
Sorry folks, I'm a believer. Not my mind playing
games I've seen this kind of thing in my own house.
So If I am losing it? then why did my cat attack
the wall where I saw it. He has never ever attacked
a blank wall, so whatever I saw He saw it too.....
Samuel...I'm sure you've read my posts above, and that I am a believer and an "experiencer". He definitely has him a ghost with him in that car/snowmobile, whatever you wanna call it.
Jim, I know what you're saying, and even agree with you, in part. Yes, I (barely) see the apparition you're talking about, and yes, these are primarily coincidental in the steam. But no doubt what Jim has is someone from "the other side" as he clearly shows in all the pics but the second one, he may or may not be there at that moment, or may be partly hidden by the lady. The fact is, they COULD NOT see this guy with their own eyes. And he's even wearing a hat!!
Sure, the steam/smoke whatever could be from Jim's breath, but the bottom line is, someone's in that T for "one last ride"...and hopefully enjoying it.
Jim - Thanks for posting this occurrence.
My wife is part of a paranormal investigating group (Midnight Shadows Paranormal Society) based in Tipp City, OH which is just north of Dayton. By invitation or request, the group travels through the area investigating homes, businesses, etc. when paranormal activity has been reported at a location. After reading your post, we thought we might take a day-trip out to the museum to possibly set-up an investigation. Of course, it would be great to know the background on the car/snowmobile prior to that.
Thanks again. We'll keep you updated.
Haven't heard from Jim now since Christmas...can't take that long to go to Indiana from Massachusetts...hope that "passenger" didn't get the better of him. He sure seemed to be having some weird problems.
Years ago, my brother and I had our Mustangs parked beside a drag strip at night after the races had finished. I took a video of the cars. Both were empty, not running and the headlights were on. I saw nothing unusual but, when you watch the video, the headlights on my brother's car very clearly switch to high beam and back to low beam as the camera sweeps past.
Tim,

No issues since drop off December 26th .....
Currently hauling a Model T complete chassis
to North Carolina from Illinois ....
I wanted to wait a day or so to see if
things got back to normal before posting
Jim
Thanks Jim T....just went over to it and got updated. Glad they made it.
