Had this for awhile. I think the markings were explained to me at one time but CRS took over.
The 3/8W - 7/16BSF end is actually 3/4". The 5/16W - 3/8BSF end is 5/8". As you can see it was made in England.
The wrench is a British size , 3/8 whitworth, 7/16 british standard fine. They were used on all British cars up to about the 60's. The size on the wrench is for the bolt body not the hex head as we are used to.
Most of the sizes do not convert to us standard sizes.

You have the nomenclature wrong -that is called a spanner.
Thanks Tom. That's pretty much as I remember what I was told but couldn't say for sure.
Gary
I have one of those spanner's, think it's even the same size as that one.
Why not? It fits six different sizes.
so that raises a question, fords sent over seas had "normal" bolts?
Clayton, our Canadian sourced cars have US/Canadian hardware. All coach bolts are coarse thread e.g. running board fixings and hood shelf bolts. These sizes are interchangeable with whitworth bolts from the hardware shop. However, instead of 1/2" nuts on the running board bolts, our hardware shop bolts have whitworth nuts which a bit bigger! I buy my nuts from a specialty shop by specifying UNC nuts.
All the other stuff on the motor, trans, rear axle etc are standard Ford issue.
Just for interest.
