What kind of primer, primer surfaces and finish paint is being usedone to paint early wood/metal bodies?

i would use an enamel primer & finish...ive just finished painting a wood & metal body using acrylic & there is constant moving & cracking with different weather changes...never again !! acrylic does not adapt to well...where enamel was used back in the day anyway & can be touched up easily.

Sherwin Williams has a great lacquer underbody for use on wood, and you can get it in black.
