These books were given or sold to visitors to The Wayside Inn at Sudbury, Massachusetts. The Wayside Inn was purchased in 1923 by Henry Ford to completely restore.
Two original letters accompany this book. The first letter is from Mr. Girvan Snider of New York, explaining he met Mr. Ford on his visit to Wayside Inn and requesting Mr. Ford sign two copies of the book for his son and his friend who joined him on the visit. Mr. Snider was a well-known coil industry executive and you find many references to him in Coil Trade Journals of the day. The second letter is from Mr. Ford’s secretary, Frank Campsall, acknowledging Mr. Sniders request and returning two copies of the book signed by Henry Ford. This signed copy of the book for sale here belonged to Mr. Sniders son.
You can see the book, correspondence between Mr. Girvan and Frank Campsall and the signature Henry Ford has affixed to the first page of the book in the photos below.
The book is in very good condition with some minor spine and edge bumps and a small scratch on the rear cover. Overall this is a very nice example.
