Removed my old starter to replace it and see the head has split into two. Anyone got a slightly used or nos one ready to install?
We make the new ones, Bob
Almost impossible to do a quality job of removing and reinstalling a used original. Best to buy a new one. They are designed a little different so you can install them without any specialized tools.
Thanks guys. What's that about having to punch them or something? It's in the Lang's description.
You have to lightly punch down the metal between the two slots so that the sleeve is retained on the end of the Bendix - but don't punch down too hard, the sleeve still needs to be able to spin.
Oh, okay, I get it, to keep it on its "track". great photo, thank you!
