Amps are amps regardless of the voltage. You can use your old one or any amp gauge. For the same watts power out or in, the current will be half of that of a 6 volt system.
I've never had any problem with a T ammeter reading correctly, and I tried them all 6,8, and 12.
Bruce. Lang's and Snyder's has replacement 20-0-20 amp meters with and without Ford script and Snyder's has a 30-0-30 script meter which is useful for cars with alternators that can peg a 20 amp meter. if Your car has a functioning Magneto they sell a
a/c Magneto voltmeter that looks period ? and mounts under the dash. many original amp meters have been pegged during their lifetime due to electrical problems and do not return to center zero when the car is turned off, also many have very faded meter scales which are barely readable. Good Luck.
Bruce. Correction It's MAC's that has the 30-0-30 replacement amp meter.
