Good luck - the last really nice original one I saw for sale was on Bill Williams's booth in the mid 1990's mud bowl of Hershey and it was $2500.00 at that time.

American Pickers had one of these on the show a while back. Don't know if it was orig. or repo.

yeah I saw the thread and emailed him I have seen some on ebay, some have gone for about 5-600 was hoping maybe he had one for sale. or if anyone knew I called pickers and left a message so we shall see thanks for the help

Adam, I wish I could say I have moved on this project more then I have the last time these were brought up. I have repaired over a dozen of originals that had broken or missing parts for collectors. In fact I have three on the shelf that I have been working on using up parts originally meant for these copies. The fan is probably the most common item lost and needing replacement since the fan spins in CCW direction which in turn spins off the acorn nut on the front holding the fan in place. Also along with broken arms and other body parts due to the fact this whole assembly is cast in pot metal and becomes brittle over time.

Right now I have started to do another 100 KRW gap gages to add to my work load. I never figured there was as big a market for this item when we starting by making just 4 for use by some local friends. Having gone over 300 in sales thanks to the T vendors and now have back orders from them for more since I sold out last fall at Hershey. I started this hopefully last batch what will be my last run needed for this project. See not made in China! Bob

Bob. Will you sell the "Twins" as a kit form. I could finish it with the parts you have made. I enjoy that type of project, but can not do the castings. If you will sell a kit ... Ill take one... Thanks ....

By a kit do you mean just the raw casting and you do all the machining? However, there are several not cast pieces like the worm gear, brass ring gear and fan along with several other small pieces that has to done if you have the equipment to make these or would these have to be furnished with the kit? I still have to make up a die set to punch out the pieces that attach the arms to the center shaft. To do the two required would be easy if you only need these to complete one model with the use of a die grinder but needing 40 will require me either to make up a die set and punch them out or get use of a wire EDM set up to do several stacked at one time. Then there's the pin that arms fit into that could be silver soldered in place or stacked in place. These are some of the last steps needed to be completed before I can begin to assemble these Twin models.

In the past I have sold raw castings of other projects I have produced to guys wanting to save on the cost of a completed one and do all the machining themselves. I don't know how many ever completed these projects or not but I do know I continued to get an endless number of phone calls from them asking "how did you machine this or how did I fit this piece" and a host of other related questions and many not answerable over the phone because of their lack of machining background. I know from my personal experience on items like the gap gage above that we reproduced what I needed the original in hand to be able to see and measure then machine the steps required to complete them and now something as complicated as this model of the Twins plus you really need an original in hand and a host machines and tools and some machining knowhow to complete it successfully. It's not that you couldn't do it and being I'm not all that skilled myself but if it were somewhat easy I might of had some done by now. Bob

Have you considered using water-jet to cut the connector links for the arms?

Might be a lot quicker and cheaper. Just a thought.

thanks bob, I would love to get the parts to make one my dad has one, but will not part with it ever he said he is taken it to the grave, so if you could send me the parts I have a copy to look at and grab measurements from. im having a buddy of mine who's a machinist do the work we want to make one so if you don't have one for sale complete I would love to get the raw parts from you to make one. I have emailed my buddy this email so he knows what you mean by some of the brass and parts you talked about so if at all possible raw parts please if you can thank you and also maybe you could email just some general build of the twins to help s out so we don't bug you thanks

Bob: For me to do one I would at least have to have the gears already machined. Ill probably wait till you finish them ... I would like to be on a list for a complete one if you have a list. I do not believe anyone believes the "not skilled" comment. Thanks for your answer to my post .....

Ron, I have planned to use one on my fire truck also when and if I can get around to finishing them. Awhile back I took the Phantom hood ornament I reproduce and place a firefighter's helmet on him and placed a spinner with red jewels atop the motometer and have it on my truck now called the "Phantom Firefighter". I plan to place helmets on the twin also to have it look like they are two firefighters pumping water. Bob

You sir are a mastermind. Its amazing how nice your ornaments come out. I'm in no hurry for the ornament I won't get to build the truck for a few years. But I definitely want one, you never see them any where. Do you know how much you'd charge for them?
