For all you that would like to photograph or watch this event it will happen on Sunday January 26. Senior UP Steam Manager Ed Dickens says this event is like a Zoo having the opportunity of bringing back a T_Rex.
Early in the morning on Sunday, January 26, Union Pacific and Metrolink crews will cut the Metrolink main line adjacent to the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona, Calif. The track will be swung over to link up with the panel track in the fairgrounds parking lot that's held UP Big Boy No. 4014 since November, and the 1941 Alco will begin its journey to Cheyenne, Wyo., for restoration to service. Metrolink has a long window of inactivity between shortly after midnight and after 7:00 a.m. The locomotive will reportedly be put on display that morning at the Metrolink Covina station before it moves onto UP rails at CP Bassett and completes its journey to UP's West Colton Yard. At West Colton, No. 4014 will be prepared for the long journey to Cheyenne.
After the 4-8-8-4 is pulled out onto live rail, UP SD40-2 No. 3105, along with a caboose and boxcar, will make the reverse move into the fairgrounds, where they will be put on display at the Rail Giants Museum in the space that 4014 has vacated.

Fred,
Thanks for the heads up. If I was closer I would love to hear and see that!
Respectfully submitted,

Sorry to see it go-overjoyed to see it will be restored.
If any of you are going to watch this move on Sunday, I sure would like to see some of your photo's. I'm not going to make it this weekend. Darn! Had to take an Ambulance ride instead. I'm ok now just had a Heart scare for a while.
