The kids and mom seem to be leaning towards the front of the car, making the "hill" effect worse.

Worst rabbit impression I've ever seen.

I believe the car is actually parked on a relatively steep grade, hence the steam. Look at the relationship of the road grade to the fence posts. That certainly could not have been staged?

Steep grade maybe but enhanced a bit. I was looking at the man's pose and trees in back ground. Fence posts are not exactly upright either.

No oil lamps so I guess it is a '19-'22 starter car. I am only on a smartphone but I don't see demountable wheels or a spare. I thought someone here once posted that demountables always came as a package on starter cars. I doubted that as starters/generators were a $75.00 option and demountables were $25.00 instead of $100.00 for both. Anyone know?

Check the wires out on that fence post....either the wires are running uphill or that post has an extreme lean to the left. The steam also seems to be going up at the same angle as the people on the running board.

It looks to me as if they have finished climbing the hill and are just about to go down the other side. The wire fence is beside a side road which continues to climb the hill. Mum has probably had a feed of prunes and is just lifting her cheek to relieve herself. There is a breeze blowing the steam. :-)
