Is there a rubber anti-squeak part that fits around the steering column at the dash clamp on the 1926 - 1927 Tourings or Roadsters. ?? It looks loose without one. If it takes one, who sells them. I can not find anything in Langs, Bobs, Macs ect about them. There is one shown for the 23-25, but I see none for 26-27s.

Hi Donnie,
I have used the Model A part shown here on my 26 & 27 in the past when I had the same issue. It's not exact, but pretty close.A3521 anti rattler
I don't think they make an exact T part for the steering column. I hope this helps .
Take care,
Brent

Sounds like a spot for a piece of old inner tube!

A piece of leather from an old belt works well too, and can be cut to exact length for a perfect fit!

I used some felt gasket material to fill the gappage.

Donnie on my 27 roadster I cut a piece of an old leather belt (I re-dyed it black) and nobody has ever noticed it and the steering column does not squeak or rattle

Thanks everyone. The leather, sounds like a good fix. I was not sure if there ever was an anti-squeak part installed by Ford or not.

Hummm...
Maybe it's me but I haven't had a squeak there....
Now if somebody has a solution for the rattling driver door handle vibration that would be helpful.

Ford part #40166X Cushion (steering column) lower and #40160X upper.

No reproductions made.

Use rubber as leather will dry and squeak.

Remains of the upper and missing lower cushions

Dan: You are saying there were 2 separate pieces. I can not tell from the photo, but were the cushions a "molded piece" with a "lip" of some kind to help hold it in place. Or were they just flat pieces of rubber.?? I wonder if there is a picture of the cushions in any of the parts catalogs.... ? Thanks ..

There is a elongated rubber grommet that goes under the window sill molding and over the lock bar that should help the lock handle rattle. I used a piece cut from a radiator hose to fill the gap on my 27 coupe.

Ted,

Thank you. Good thought but it's a touring.

Donnie

Yes two pieces, sorry haven't seen a pic, no illustration of these in the Body Parts Price Book. The remains were rubber, crusted stiff like leather and broke easy.

So I just used a trimmed pieces of the rubber that is left over when you re-do the Improved Car windshield stanchions , that strip has a bit of a lip to wrap around the parts.
