A two cylinder double acting steam engine is equivelant to a v8 engine they both have 4 power strokes per revolution.

4 Dobles participated in the 1988 Steam car tour in Sun Valley, Idaho. They were very impressive to watch and ride in.
What's the "double" steering wheel?
I guess I should have added on the pictures of the one in the Leno collection.
The smaller wheel on the steering column is the throttle I believe. At least it is on a White steamer. Very dangerous at a car show if someone walks up at turns it while steam is up. Owners often cover it up with a coat.
