I'm actually a descendant of Scripps Booth. He was a wild thinker....
Although attributed to the Owl's Head Museum, the last I knew of it, that car is owned by the Detroit Historical Museum and is on-loan to Owl's Head.
By the way, that front "tire" is made of wood. Notice the steel strap around it to hold it together. Apparently done when a proper tire was not available.
Jerry, Yes it is on loan from the Detroit Historical Society. Thanks for the info on the front tire, that may have been done when it was prepared for the 1946 Detroit Golden Jubilee celebration.
I will check that out next time I am up there.
David,
You post the absolute coolest information ...
Thanks again !
Jim
Don "I'm actually a descendant of Scripps Booth. He was a wild thinker."
Has anything related to him survived in the family??
David, not that I'm aware of. My Uncle (RIP) seemed to know the most about Scripps and that wasn't much. I'm certain that we are way out on the family tree branch. Although my middle name is James...hmmm ~~
My wife and I have visited the Owl's Head Museum.
A really cool museum...different to say the least.
Well worth a visit.
