I have some old visible gas pumps that I would like to start restoration on. I see a lot of restored pumps at swap meets and antique malls. There doesn't seems to be much rhyme or reason to how they are painted. It just looks like most of the restorers are getting creative. Old photos of gas stations help a little, but they are almost always in b&w leaving one to guess at the real colors. It seems like I have seen old booklets or brochures from an oil company that have drawings of how the pumps were to be painted. Does anyone know of any books or websites that show color schemes of how the pumps should be painted for different oil companies?
