It is my understanding that these were once made, but no longer.

Anyone happen to have one that they might want to part with?

Other 26-27 grill shells?

Also, any info on leads to restore the grill shell mucho appreciated. (Companies or individuals who perform these tasks)

Robert, I don't know of a supplier who might have any repop shells left. If anyone might, try Bob Bergstadt (Bob's Antique Parts) in Loves Park, Illinois. The other options are: finding and buying a better one (they pop up on Ebay, frequently); or if your shell is an original nickel plated brass shell, find a brass instrument repair music shop. They usually have some one on staff, or know who to send brass out to. If your shell was an original steel shell, the options are a lot less. Remember if your shell is only damaged on the sides and not on the faceplate; the faceplate can be switched out to a shell with undamaged sides.

Thanks Terry, the shell is brass and the center faceplate is nice and undamaged and has the original Ford Canada on it, so I would like to keep that if possible.

Also why I was interested in the repop ones as I heard they were only the Ford Canada shells and while not perfect (rad hole was said to be off a little) I'm guessing they were still pretty nice.

Been looking for a shell to build this one out of, but nothing yet. Everything is either too beat, or one I found is minty enough to use as is, but missing a couple small pieces at the bottom that would need added on and it's a US Ford faceplate.

Robert,

I have the very last reproduction shell that Snyders sold and it is Canadian. It may have been their checking standard because it has a sticker saying master or something similar on it. I haven't test fitted it on my car because that car isn't complete yet. The reproductions are steel, not brass and they weren't that cheap when they were being marketed by Snyders. $175 seems to stick out in my mind although I welcome corrections. The shell still needed the two pieces at the bottom near the mounting holes. They were sold separately and I don't remember if the shell was drilled to accept them.

Based on this knowledge, I would say you might be better off finding a good original. If you are interested in swapping brass faceplates, one of my cars years ago came fitted with a Canadian shell that someone had shortened to fit a low radiator. My hope is to retire someday and figure out out how to graft new brass onto the sides and silver solder everything back together with USA on the front.

You're welcome to send me a PM.

I am sorry, but i do not have a second shell to sell. My guess would be that they are hard to come by. Slightly off topic, but do you fellas that own Canadian cars have a source for 21" Canadian split rims. I am in need of two. Thanks.

If you need a shell find an original. The repop ones did not fit well even after a lot of work. The radiator hold is off by quite a lot. All 26-27 shells are getting hard to find.

Jim
I have found split rims at flea markets but all of them needed new locks.
If a US rim has been found I just drill holes on either side of the split. The lock is hidden by the felloe. Fake, yes, but I don't tell anyone.
