Howdy,I'm new here, although I have been reading for some time now.

Can anyone tell me why the difference?

I had picked up a replacement Coupe cowl for parts, some time back. I just took it apart, and now took the one on my Coupe apart, and there is quite a difference in them. Is this a difference between '26 & '27, or where they were made?

1: The header plate is totally different.

2: behind the dash is made different. Mainly the way the dash is mounted on. The replacement has the dash mounts on the 'A' pillars,

and my original one has them on the cowl.

The replacement cowl has a reinforcement bar formed across it.

3: The floor toe boards bracket are narrow on the replacement ones.

Thanks, Pat

Even though there were very few external differences, the amount of wood used around the windows did vary. I don't doubt that there were hidden structural differences, too. I know there were two different trunk floors.

I have always been able to remove the gas tank from a '27 without removing the instrument pane, Never could on a '26.

gas tanks come out just as easy on a 26 as a 27 for me, I strongly believe its where or who built the body, that's what makes the differences
