Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2014: H&D or Aitchandee shocks

There is an advertising book on eBay for the Aitchandee shock which was manufactured in Goodland, IN. I had never heard of the H&D company before and found a thread from the 2011 forum with some photos of these shocks. My wife is from Goodland and I grew up 7 miles away (where we still live) and I'd like to find a set of these shocks for my local history collection, not to use on my T. If anyone has a set setting around that you'd be willing to part with, please contact me at kidclerk@aol.com. I'll try to watch the forum for responses too but I'm not good at getting that job done. Thanks!

Kyle

Hi Kyle

Here is the patent info on the Aitchandee shock absorbers . . .

Andrew P. Hawn
Goodland. Indiana
Assignor to H. & D. Company
Goodland, Indiana
Shock-Absorber
Patent Number: 1264923
Filing date: July 8, 1914
Issue date: May 7, 1918

It seems that Andrew Hawn may have been the “H” in the H & D Co.,
but I did not see any connections in the various patents that he filed
that would use the “D” initial.
Some searching using his name and Goodland or LaPorte may turn
up some info for you.
He used the LaPorte address in a couple of other patents for some
farm equipment assigned to the Advance Rumely Co.

TIMER CONTROL PATENT -

One of his other patents involved a system to retard the timer
when cranking, and might be of interests to those members having
an interest in timers.

Andrew P. Hawn
Goodland. Indiana
Assignor to H. & D. Company
Goodland, Indiana
Automatic Spark Adjusting Attachment
Patent Number: 1222399
Filing date: Dec 9, 1916
Issue date: Apr 10, 1917
