This kind of thing is just tragic. Everybody loses. The Model T community or movement—or whatever you want to call it—has enjoyed the greatest parts and tech support of any historical vehicle of any kind, ever. And a substantial piece of that legacy belongs to Robert Bertgstadt.

It would be too glib for a newbie like me to presume to present him with any laurels, but a blind man could see through a brick wall that it's guys like him who have always been there to make this whole thing possible.

Sincerest best wishes in all your future endeavors.

Bob;
Is Lunde Leasing still in business in Rockford. I was there and the salesman took me to your store and met u or your dad and was shown around.
It was early 1984.

I hate this. Not hearing about it for several months, I was hoping the danger had passed. Bob, you've been a great asset to the Model T community. I hope your manufacturing effort is a big success. You deserve it.

Most of us have family issues of some form to deal with. Few of us have had the impact you have had on such a large family (T Family).

Don't stay gone long Bob.

This is very sad. You and your Dad provided a needed service for us Model T guys for a long time. Hopefully, your parts manufacturing will continue to serve the hobby for a long time, and also provide you with a decent income.

Best wishes,

Keith

Terrible news and this is a horrible situation. I am very sorry for you Bob and this must hurt terribly. I wish you well in your new endeavor. Sorry to hear of the continuing family issues; some people just don't ever get enough stuff in life I guess. Sad.

Bob, so sorry to hear things aren't working out. I've only recently become a customer of yours, and you folks were very helpful. I understand you need to do what you need to do, and while a lot of us always need "something" everybody likes the word "sale", yet under these circumstances, I for one feel like being a part of a flock of vultures and it really is uncomfortable, frankly. It's a shame it comes to this. God Bless you and yours that are able to work together.

Hope your new endeavor overshadows the tribulation you're going through now.

I'm sorry this is happening. And your advice for folks to set things up ahead of time is very wise -- even for the families that do get along -- it just prevents potential issues.

And I know you will succeed at whatever you do next. When Lee Iacocca was fired by Ford, he didn't let it get him down. He moved on. And while the going will not be great the next few months, you will make it through it and move on.

Recommended book -- "Necessary Endings" by Dr Henry Cloud (see: http://www.drcloud.com/resources and scroll past the first book). I've found it very helpful to me in difficult situations.

I look forward to seeing you in a new business 5 years from now and without any entanglements pulling you back. Who knows – maybe somewhere closer to Richmond, IN? You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap l9l5 cut off

Bob

End of the line is hard to take, as you've been a choice source for me for years.

Remember ordering via mail, as a youth in TN, filling out the order form, and getting parts. Back when only Bob's and Gaslight offered T parts, with the exception of JC Whitney, which I used too.

Then later the phone, with Kathy helping me with parts, ever gracious with drop shipping instructions to the engine builder in another state. Your triple gear bronze bushings were and are still the best around. And a couple of years ago, you supplied me with a splendid brake drum too.....

Going to miss the service and parts.....rats! :-(

Bob, I'm sorry to hear about this. With all your reproduction accessory announcements, I thought this had all been dealt with. Sorry to hear I was wrong. I hope you can continue in this business you love in some way, shape, or form.

I understand Tim's position on not wanting to be a "vulture" but perhaps he's looking at it from the wrong perspective. If there are parts Bob has and you need that you would be ordering from another supplier, just order them from Bob instead. I know I'll be working up a list. This way the inventory goes away a little faster and Bob is that much closer to putting this all behind him.

Bob, will the sale prices apply only to on-site purchases, or will we be able to order using other methods? Good luck to you in all you do, and I hope everything comes out on top for you.
