Can someone send me a photo of the hood shelves on a 1915 car. My latches do not seem to line up and are too close to the hood. When I lower the hood, the hood will hit the top of the latch, and the hood will also not meet the shelf as it sits flat on the frame.

Thanks

John and Olivia

John or Olivia, Show us some photos. the hood on mine touch the latches and when I latch them, it pulls the bottom of the hood out just a smidge.

John -- The holes for the hood latches should be elongated, so that the latches can swing out at the top. The springs will hold them vertical so your hood will hit them, unless you pull them outward. Sorry, I don't have any pics handy.

p.s. -- There should be a gap between the hood and the shelves when the hood is latched.

Looks just how my 16 hood shelf and latches fit. Also remember that the fender apron goes under that wood shelf piece that will raise it a small bit.

if you can remember to put the latches in while the engine is still out, it's much easier.

John -- The gap looks about right. The holes for the latches don't appear to be elongated the way they need to be. Remove the latches, then stick a drill bit (about 5/16", in a drill) through the hole and slowly tip the drill motor outward to make a wider hole. The latches need to be able to pivot outward.

As long as the software is being a jerk tonight, I might as well post this while I'm at it.

Steve's hood shelves are NQR.....should cover the frame bolt shown and extend under the hood former at the cowl.

John,

The bolts for the firewall brackets have a special reduced height head. The nuts go on the bottom side. The underside of the hood shelve wood is cut back to allow the bolt and the firewall bracket to fit under the wood.
