"You can apply without directions":
So I can apply clear coat spraying North to South or East to West :-)

What type (paint system) of clear coat? Urethane, Acrylic, Lacquer or Enamel?

The most suitable clear coat would be one used on motor vehicles in their clear over base color systems. The best ones are two part urethane enamels.

!9 years ago I made a copy of the name plate from the Harrah's museum Lamsteed Kamper.

I printed the black image onto clear printing self adhesive paper. I then applied it to a polished brass plate and covered it with a Urethane clear.

It is positioned on the side of the vehicle in full view in the sun, It is still as good as new.
