Working on the 21 coupe I just bought, It appears that a metal lid latch striker plate might be missing. can any body post a picture or a description of what it should be?
Thank's Jim
Langs has them. Part no.9485L. Page 180 in their 2014 catalog. They might have a pic of them on their website.
Not sure if this is the same for coupe's and runabout's but you can adapt it.
Trunk parts for the older Coupe's are hard to find. Good luck and hope this is the correct one.
Thank's John but I have that part. what I am missing is the part on the edge of the opening that the latch hooks to.
Jim,
I have a '22 Coupe and the latch strike plate is a small flat piece of steel aprox 1-1/2" long by 1" wide by 1/8" thick. It has two small countersunk holes drilled into it and it attaches to the rear turtle deck wood frame (centered under the lock) with two small wood screws. The top edge is beveled so the lock will slide over it as you shut the turtle deck lid. The thickness of the strike plate can be adjusted by adding thin cardboard (match book cover cardboard) or tar paper spacers behind the steel. You adjust the thickness is so the latch will close and open easy but stay latched when closed.
Thank's Dennis. just what I needed and something simple to make
When I got my '23/'24, the rear body panel had already been replaced, and the deck lid had nothing to latch against. I don't know what your rear body looks like, but here is what I made to latch the lid. Please don't hate on the phillips screws, it was hard enough putting them in standing on my head in the trunk as it was, let alone using slotted screws. I used double sided tape to hold it in place and line it up before I drilled the holes to fasten it in place.
