I finally got the Drive Shaft Assembled between two grandsons playing Hockey, two more playing Baseball, and a granddaughter playing Baseball, and between working on my 94 GT Mustang getting it ready to sell and a 71 Ford Truck. Wow, who said retirement was easy....Now back to the T driveshaft. After assembling it I questioned myself on the end play. I have nice and smooth rotation but shouldn't there be some movement back and forth with the drive shaft? Maybe .005 or so? Just don't want to regret not asking.....Chet
Nope, you want zero endplay hear, otherwise your backlash will be constantly changing.
Thanks Andy, I feel better now...First one I have worked on...Chet
Chester, that looks like a 13 tooth pinion which goes with a 39 tooth ring gear for a 3:1 gearset. If that is going into the tudor shown on your profile, you may be disappointed with the result. 3:1 is too tall for a standard T,some would say any T except the lightest of speedsters. See a recent post re ring gears for comments from those with some experience. It may save you some heartache/
Allan from down under.
Allen it seems everyone feels the same way....Maybe I'll see about swapping it out for a 4:1 Monday. I have a very close friend that lives there, Brian James, Thanks Chet
Ford said .002 to .005.
We set at .002.
