Louvres weren't added to the hood until 1915. May or may not have had something to do with the horn being mounted in the engine compartment from 1915 forward.

Louvers started in 15, you see many period photo's of pre 15 with the hood removed so by that maybe some did run hot.

I have one just like it, correct for my '14, and mine doesn't run hot. Plus, I also have the engine pans.

the only pre- 15 I have seen was running without a hood oh well I learned something and maybe others did too or maybe I'm the only dummy?

The hood with out louvers and engine pans make the air flow through the rad instead of around it.Bud.
