My opinion:

It's not a wide track.

If you are going to copy an original photograph using a camera, the original photo must lie flat and the camera lens must be parallel to the original photo.

What you are seeing is distortion due to poor technique.

Eric, that portion of the front axle outboard of the spring perch looks way wider than usual. Can that be distorted on its own by poor technique? You are reading the comments of a photo posting dumbskull here.

I don't think distortion is an issue.

From the angle the copy of the photo has been made the top of the photo is stretched and the bottom is shrunk so any distortion would be to make the axle seem narrower.

Photoshop makes it pretty easy to correct.

Thank you for sharing the photo Herb. I can see what looks like a copyright notice in the bottom left. Was this a 1970s reprint?
