I'm about to have a 1914 engine/transmission shipped to me and I'm trying to estimate the weight for the trucking company. This is of course a non-starter, aluminum hogshead unit attached to it's pan, perhaps with the manifolds as well. Does anyone have an idea as to weight? Previous experience? Should it be crated or just strapped to a pallet? Any info will be appreciated!
Jamie

Starter engine with generator and manifolds is 550lbs. on a skid , I have shipped many at that weight.

You mention 'on a skid' Does this just mean steel strapping on a standard pallet or something purpose built?
