I have a question , what should the camshaft lob measure. We are putting the engine together and we installed the cam, the lobs measure the same across the cam but the valves are not opening very far.Valves are set at .010 and .012

The cam lobes on a stock cam should measure 1/4" (.250") difference between the tallest measurement and the narrowest one, which is at 90 degrees to the tall one. So your valves should open .250" minus the lash, which you have set at .010" and .012". Worn stock cams might have 20 or 30 thou less than their original amount of lift.
