Thursday My nephew and I took my 1912 barn fresh touring to Lowe's for a garden hose. On the way back home we were sitting at an intersection and looked across at the on coming traffic and there was a guy in a 1915 brass T pick up waving like crazy at us. Never saw him before and have no idea who he is.

Fast forward to Friday we drove the T up to a friends restoration shop in Monroe Wa, and while sitting at an intersection waiting for the traffic to clear, there goes a 1921(+ -) T roadster fully restored on a trailer heading to the hiway. It had gold lettering on it for some fire department. Have no idea who the owner was and where they were going.

What are the chances of you out driving your T and actually seeing other T's just passing in the opposite direction not part of an organized tour or event?

just sayin'

It depends upon where you are. I happened upon a small town of Carbonada Wa. on the northwest slopes of Mt. Rainier one day and found a Model T in almost every driveway. I notice your profile says Wa. So maybe there are other areas like that around your state.

I see them around here from time to time, but usually when I am in one of my T's I don't see any unless they are with a group of T's.

I'm actually in beautiful downtown Maltby. Lots of street rods and hot rods but no T's. It seems I might just have the total t population of the area all 2 of them.

Mr Brass

Are we going to see a picture of your car(s) in your profile some day?

While out driving my T (not counting tours) I have yet to pass or see another T on the road or any car older then mid 50's. I have talked to a couple of T owners when stopped at a store.

It happens here from time to time, but then there are probably 30 - 40 running T's within 15 miles of my house that are on the road a lot and several more that are being worked on. As a matter of fact, I think I'll put on my work clothes and go work on one of mine right now.

I never see Ts on the road around here and rarely at car shows unless they've been (shudder) turned into a rat rod or something equally ugly.

I occasionally meet up with another one. Some are fellow club members but more often strangers.

Like Danial, I rarely see one at car shows but then in 30 years I've only taken a T to a car show 3 times. I find them fun for the first 30 minutes to an hour and then duller than dirt for the rest of the show. I'll take driving any day over a static car show. I figure every trip is either a test drive or my kind of car show anyway.

About 6 months ago I was going to recycling in my '13 T runabout. Waiting at a T intersection, I saw a '14 touring approaching from the right. I pulled out and waited for him. He'd come from about 20 miles away, just enjoying the ride. He followed me to recycling, and then we dropped in on a fellow in town with a Grand National '13 runabout (like mine, but nicer) that the other driver had never met. What's the chance of that? I live in exurban NJ.

I haven't seen another T while driving one of mine, but I've seen a mystery Fordor drive by my house twice. I know a lot of the T's around here but this wasn't one of them. Maybe someday I'll find out who that was.

Walt, I'm with you. I just can't find the fun in a show where the cars are just sitting there parked. In 2007 someone dared me to create my ideal car show, so I did just that with the help of six others.

My dream is to share my Model T with people who would not otherwise ever get to see, much less ride in an antique car. This would, of course include the great majority of the population so we narrowed it down to those who for reasons beyond their control, need a little extra joy in their lives or deserve kudos for extraordinary dedication to improving their lives and the lives of others. We have invited different groups of people ranging from children with illnesses or living in foster homes to adults working their way off of substance addiction. The possibilities are practically endless. The objective is to share our blessings and generate happiness. The name of the event is Conduciendo Sonrisas, loosely translated that's "Driving Smiles". The guests are invited to have their picture taken with the cars and ride in them as well. Other activities like face painting, games and entertainment accompany the half day event.

I was surprised to receive comments of gratitude from the car owners/drivers. It might be more difficult to pull off in the USA due to liability issues. At any rate it is a unique experience and opens up a myriad of new ways to enjoy our cars!

The one Model T encounter I'll never forget occurred when several of us were driving to the Centennial in '08. We were taking small highways across southern Illinois and Indiana when we encountered a bridge being replaced. The bridge was only partially there, so it was closed. But we could see that other vehicles had been bypassing the bridge and driving across the rocky creek bed, so we decided to do the same. Just as we left the roadway and turned into the creek, a couple in a Model T emerged from the woods on a narrow lane. It was a well-used Runabout with a homemade wooden pickup bed. The guy looked like one of the Duck guys, with a long beard. It was Saturday morning, and they were heading to town for supplies.

We stopped to visit for a while, of course. It was a pretty amazing encounter for us. Imagine what it must have been like for those folks, stumbling upon 10 other Model T's crossing the creek in their neck of the woods! :-)

Today my wife, daughter and I went for a 15 mile drive in my Fordor to take my Father in law out to lunch at Big Boys. At the salad bar 2 guys asked about the 26 or 27 Model T. Well as fate would have it, both owned Model T's and one of them is the owner of a Stynoski winner.
What a fun encounter!

Yes Dean, I did! Mother's day steam train run from Cleveland to Bellevue and back, 2013. What a thrill!
On the 21st. the Tickin T's are doing an Amish Tour which will include a private tour of an actual Roundhouse being built by a couple of former railroad owners. This will be fantastic. I'll try to post the URL from their website here too.http://www.ageofsteamroundhouse.com/ Wow, it worked!! LOL

Erik,

Correct, you were just about to turn on hi way 2 about noon up in Monroe. Think you saw us. We have chatted before I also live in beautiful downtown Matlby, on Broadway just north of Flower world.

When you are available lets head out for a mini road trip. Are you going to the car show Saturday at the church on Paradise road?
