As many of you know I am quite active with my son in the Boy Scouts. This year he is the Senior Patrol Leader for the troop (highest leadership position) and is closing in on the rank of Eagle (hightest rank in scouts.)
What you don't know is my darling wife, Yvonne, is also active with the troop as a Troop Committee member, merit Badge Councilor, and Troop Treasurer. And she is participating in a Council wide fundraiser, which is why I am asking for your help.
You see, she is going over the edge.
The edge of the 1000 Broadway Building, in downtown Portland, that is.
On Friday, June 27, she will join other business and civic leaders in the greater Portland metro area for a once in a lifetime opportunity to rappel down the side of the 1000 Broadway Building!
She is one half of the dynamic duo - ‘SuperHeros in Training’. They have taken on a great mission to help out the wonderful organization known as The Boys Scouts of America and our local Cascade Pacific Council. They need your support in their endeavor to make Boy Scouts the best place for young people to experience the great outdoors, learn leadership skills and in general, make for a better tomorrow. Your kind donations will help them battle gravity and slowly rappel down the 1000 Broadway Building, and will help you become a Superhero to our youth.
She and her teammate, Committee Chair and Eagle Advisor Mike Malloy, are committed to raising $2,500. Please visit their team webpage:
http://cpcbsa.kintera.org/pdxedge/superherosintraining where you can make a secure, tax deductible donation as well as see complete event information.
She looks forward to this opportunity and Thanks You in advance for your Super-Support!
I plan to stand on the sidewalk below and hold a fireman's net with a big red dot in the middle...

Neat Keith. Thanks for posting, and keep us up to date as we get closer.
How are you with heights?
If I add this, does it make in non-OT ?

In 19 hours and 50 minutes I will be participating in one of the biggest adventures of my life – actually, the biggest! I wanted to say Thank you to all you Super Heroes who have made contributions to the BSA on my behalf for this event – your $$ are very much appreciated and are put to very good use in the scouting program!
If you happen to be in downtown Portland, Oregon around 10:35 tomorrow morning, please come by the 1000 Broadway Building and cheer this fraidy cat on – over - down!
Thanks ever so much for your “Super-Support”!
Yvonne
PS – Donations to support this adventure are still very much welcome!
Well guys, She did it!
It's a long way down!
One step at a time!
Celebrating at the bottom with her rappelling partner.
