That was the standard way to turn them around, a jack on a center privet point being balanced by the operator.Thanks for the picture Jay.

Saw on some websites that standard train gauge is 56" and standard track of a T is also 56". Is that true? Probably more than happenstance?

You are correct Will, 56" is standard gage train and car.

to be correct standard gage track is four foot, eight and a half inches (or 56 1/2 inches).
