Has anyone bought and used one of these paint turbines? What are the results? Good finish, or marginal finish. I would like to paint my T and A. I have painted with a compressor, but I was just thinking now that the price of paint is so high; it would be good not to have a lot of overspray. Any input on these turbines would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin.

I used one of these turbine systems once and was not at all pleased with it. That I was doing something wrong is not out of the realm of possibility. I paint a lot with conventional compressed air HVLP guns and can't imagine how you can do better with anything other. Look to what professional shops you and they don't use turbines.

The other end of that spectrum is not to buy a cheap gun. Sata makes an excellent gun, as well as others. It is very easy to gobble up the savings of a cheap gun in wasted paint. Material usage is not the only issue, but also final finish. If you have trouble with a cheap gun, you're going to be inclined to respray, or use more sandpaper and compound to raise your quality level, whereas with a good gun you can get a better final finish the first time around (with plenty of practice, of course!).
