I think I was looking at a Ruxell (sp) 2 speed rear end in a Model A doodlebug tractor. It had what looked like a worm gear on the top and then a round gear below it and was not at all like the other rear ends. On the 4 speed gear box there was a flipper I assumed for changing the rear ends speed.
I wanted that particular tractor but it went for 2100 and I figured the rear end was the reason. they said the trannys mostly came from the AA trucks and were 4 speeds.
Sounds like a worm drive rear end and a Model A truck 4 speed. The flipper is lifted to shift into reverse.
Thanks Bill. I noticed that most of the shifters had the flipper on them but not all had the worm gear rear end. That explains that.
