How do you bend the rear toe kick to nail it down AND get the gas tank in??

The car is upside down. I hate to take out the original to put in a repo, but I cannot figure out how to bend the thick metal and get the gas tank in??

A previous thread you showed me how to nail it down.

Thanks for your help.

Bob

hmm! I think the tank go's in from the bottom in other words bolt the tank to the frame, then set the body over the top of it. that's the way ford did it.!!!!!!!!!! charley

Ahh...I've never done one pre-15 yet I've done a slew of after...but me thinks Charlie is correct for all under the seat tanks....the tank mounts to the frame, the body straddles over it.

But, what if you need to take the tank out later..... ?

I think Charley and George are right. and if you need to remove the tank later you raise the body out of the way...

Robert, Not a problem to remove the tank with the body on the car - at least on my 1916 touring. I had to do that last year when the Bondo (?) around the sediment bulb starting leaking. Wound up using the old sediment bulb and the new tank. Getting it in the car was easy, Fastening the bolts was a bit more difficult because of the cramped location.

the later toe panels give more room, but ford still put the tank on first. charley
