Could someone post a picture of a correct 1918 radiator shroud? I currently have a rounded edge varsity that I think is repop. Also, any pics of what an '18 TT muffler. Thank you!

Nick, the 1918 radiator shell is the same as all the low shells, except that the mounting holes at the bottom are only 3/8". When the newer mountings were introduced, these holes were made larger so the shell would sit over the thimble over the mounting springs.

Hope this helps.

Allan,

The early steel shells, '17 & '18, also had round holes for the lacing rather than the rectangular slots as the later ones have. I have one on my '17 race car that is under restoration at the moment, but un-fortunately it is in storage while we move and I can't take any photographs of it.

Peter.

This is what I have now. Stupid question how do I identify high/low radiators?

This is what the muffler end looks like.

Nick,

Your shroud def looks like it was made for the rodder bunch....

The regular one has a bit of 3D stamping in it. This is a '19 but really the same appearance as all 'low'

The high and the low radiator have a good amount different, but unless they are side by side, it's hard to tell unless you measure. Easiest way is to go to vendor site for replacement hoods...they have hood panel dimensions, match the hood you've got.

btw Nick....

Is that a foot stompin' accessory starter I see? Might like to hear a little more about it

Nice!

Nick, George's photo shows what you want. As far as I know, all the high radiator shells have angled sides which follow the line of the hood. The low ones are square to the sides.

Hope this helps.

Peter, US shells on high radiators can have either holes or slots. I don't know if the same applies to their low shells. I have not seen slotted low shells in Australia either.

Thanks for the input all. It looks like I have a high radiator too. I'll be on the lookout for a low radiator and correct shell.Anyone have a shell?

Any thoughts on the muffler? Is it supposed to point up under the body like that?

John is correct, it's an E-Z Power pto unit on the front. Has a built in governor and works well. I'll get a pic tomorrow.

I've also got 5.16 gears, Ruckstell, Jumbo Giant Auxiliary; and I am installing a KMC Transformer kerosene conversion.

I run three water pumps to keep it cool and the most expensive oil available...

It looks like William Goodheart has a low shell that he would probably love to trade for your high shell, scroll about 3/4 of the way down this thread:
