I installed the Rockies in 2011 and things have worked fantastically until now. This past April, I had to repair the driveline and since then, they have been out of adjustment. I didn't change a thing when I removed them, but for some odd reason they are dragging near the front.

I have gone through the sketchy instructions step by step, taking them off and putting them back on, but they are still dragging. I notice that there is fore and aft movement where the big "C"-shaped piece, that attaches to the two 5/8" bolts (it takes a 3/4" wrench), mounts (it has the long spring that goes around the outside of it). It looks like that is the way it was designed; however, if I could get it to move forward just a bit, the shoe would not drag.

I also noticed that if the two rear adjusters that are mounted with 3/8" nuts (it takes a 7/16 wrench)had a stronger spring, that would also force the band to lift up more.

Has anyone experienced this that might be able to point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Jim, I bought my Rocky Mountains direct from the manufacturer. I would call them and describe your dilemma. Their # is: 1-951-694-9932 Pacific time.

That "C" piece shouldn't move. Possible your bolts are now loose. You will need to remove the rear wheels to tighten them. Still it wouldn't hurt to check with the manufacturer just to be sure that is the issue.

Thank you for all of your help and giving me Bud's number.he talked me through some things over the phone today, though it didn't solve the problem, it did explain how things worked which help me to solve the problem. The shoe was riding on the front of the drum. But explained that the spring on the front of the shoe is there to hold it away from the drum. What I discovered is that the spring was on the wrong side, meaning it was on the left side instead of the right side. It had come on attached when I was putting the brake on and I attached it on the left side of the housing. once it was in the right place, everything moves freely. My daughter and I took it for a test run and the brake drum was amazingly cool. it is amazing that something so simple could make such a world of difference.
