Trying to make it work
You're getting close, the picture shows up, but it's only 12K and is pretty small on the screen, if you have control over the physical size and dots per inch, I find that 5.9 inches wide and 150 dots per inch works pretty well.
Val,
Depending on how you resized the photo you may have an option to select the photo size in pixels. About 600 to 800 pixels should be about right. Your pic is 184 x 137 pixels.
Marks suggestion is 885 pixels wide that should work also. Some methods you can select the pixel size directly and some you have to do a workaround like Mark. Really, dots per inch only comes into play with printed images.
Jim
Jim,
how does the math work???
600-800 pixels - in each direction?
184 X 137 pixels = many thousands, no?
I also have a difficult time re-sizing with Microsoft picture manager. Yes, there are other programs - silly me - can't make them work easily either.
Dave
Dave,
The photo size or dimensions in pixels is kind of related to but not directly related to the file size. In general the larger the pixel size will make a larger file size.
This site requires that the file size be no larger then 194KB. There is no restriction the width or height in pixels.
You can find the size and dimension of any photo online by right clicking on the photo and selecting "view image info". The small photo (file) above is 10.83 KB (11,089 bytes) in size and the the dimensions are 184px × 137px.

Hey Val with my iPhone or iPad I've found the easiest thing to do is select the pictures in your photo app, then email them to yourself, it'll ask you what size, pick the medium one that says 500-700 kb. When you then email them too yourself, for some reason they shrink, just save the pictures back to your photos and you'll have copies of the ones you just emailed, but they will work and be plenty big on the forum.
Figure it out. I want a better shot of that junky old Autocar!
