Hi all ! I Bought a box of Model t parts and these don't look familiar to me. only one has ford script on it and it looks to me like a ball bearing race. it has a left hand thread and it does thread onto a ford spindle, thanks, Ken
sorry for all the double pictures. Ken
They look like front wheel ball bearing parts to me - inner races, snap ring ball retainers.
Ford used ball bearings on all T's up until 1919, and even after '19 on the cheapest cars without starter and demountable rims.
I don't have a need for these parts on my 24 T so I am offering them to anyone on the forum that can use them for free. I only have 11 races but I have about 75 to 100 of all others pictured. The first eleven members will get a race and 8 retainers. The races are excellent with no rust. Some of the retainers have light surface rust in the form of powder. All I ask is you pay the shipping, I am guessing two to three dollars for a small brown envelope from the usps ? I am not sure if these part are even worth the shipping ? let me know. A lot of you guys have given me a lot of good information in the past 2 or 3 years so this is just a thank you from me. Ken
Ken, Some of the purist still run the ball bearings. So someone will want the parts. The inner race seems to be the harder one for me to find, but these still have value to someone. If you do not get 11 takers, Ill still bet someone would want all of them. Thanks for offering them and saving a little more of the Ts parts....
Ken I have 5 T's running ball bearings and will take whatever you will give me. Just let me know what the postage is and I'll get the money to you.
Ken,
Thank you for saving the Ford parts. Yes, they have value. Lang's has them listed for $1.75 at: http://www.modeltford.com/item/2706.aspx
And yes, some of us still run them and on the lighter cars (i.e. open cars etc.) and they work fine.
And if they are still available, I would like one. I'll send you my address via private message.
And again, thank you for making them available and not just tossing them because you might not need them. (A lot of things disappear because someone says -- I don't need it and it is just taking up room. And someone else would gladly use the part if it was made available.)
Respectfully submitted,
