Could some please post a photo of a 21" spare split rim correctly mounted on a spare rim carrier for a 1925 and under touring car? Is there a bracket that attaches on the bottom of the rim or is the rim secured with only a wheel mounting nut.

My mounting frame has a u-shaped bracket at approx 35 degrees below top each side then a bracket with a bolt on clip at the bottom. Appears to be original.

I know the carrier is different than the 30 X 3 1/2, but I'm not sure on the nut. It could be the same as the clincher tire or it could be like the 1926 models. I hope you find out, and please share your findings.

Thanks John and Larry for your responses. I went to the Benson Ford Research Center at the Henry Ford today and tried to find the answer to my question by locating drawings related to this 21" spare rim carrier for the 1925 touring. My search leaves a lot to be desired; but I did find that their was a mounting spare rim clamp which was used with the carrier. Part number T 7312D. There were about ten changes that took place for this part from October 1924 through January 1927. The clamp is 2 1/8" long piece with a 7/16" nut having 20SAE TPI mounted in the center for securing the rim to the carrier. This clamp was zinc coated 1/4" thick stock in the shape of an elongated diamond.(Actually the part is a forging per one of the drawings.) More of a handle I guess for easy securing or tightening to rim carrier by hand. Original drawing had a 11/32" diameter hole drilled in each end which was eliminated in later revisions. Ford script was added when one of the two holes was eliminated. Sorry I did not get a print of the drawing. Thanks again. Tom Voltz

Here is a thread with some pictures: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/179374/221960.html?1310006255
And here another - but it's the 30"x3.5" version, maybe not the same clamp? http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29/37893.html?1193256826

Thanks Roger for the two threads. My word search must have been different that yours. My spare rim carrier is exactly like the last one pictured in Dave Martins post.
The clamp pictured in the other thread is different then what I saw during my research at the Benson Ford Research Center of the Henry Ford. It could been for 30 X 3 1/2" carrier rather than for 21" balloon tire and split rim.

Picture submitted by John Page in 2011 is identical to my 1925 Touring. The taillight also is identical. (the taillight plug may be different since I did change the bulb to a combination tail/stop bulb)
