I've been working on repairing some of my interior panels on my '26 TuDor. I'd like to ask what is supposed to go around the inside of the door openings. Someone long ago made some wind lace out of black naga-hide and that is what was there. I was told by someone that the TuDor didn't have a wind lace above the door opening. So I'm asking what is supposed to be around the door opening?
Thanks Mike

Mike,

I am fairly certain that your 26 Tudor will have similar trim as the earlier Closed Cars. Our Fordor has Windlace on the sides of the doors, none on the top of the doors. Picture below.

Also follow this earlier thread that I contributed to.

Best regards, John Page Australia.

Thanks John.
Looks like the windlace is made from the same material as the headliner? And.... It appears that there is a material covered strip covering the metal strip at the top of the door opening on the outside and the inside? My car has a metal strip at the top of the door opening which has three mounting holes in it. This is where the naga-hide wind lace was. It seems to make sense that this metal strip would get covered on both sides, but how are these strips attached?
Thanks Mike

Mike,

Your car being an all steel body, there will be differences. I am not familiar with the Tudor's. The strip above the door on the earlier wood framed Closed Cars were cardboard, and covered with the same material as the headliner. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Best regards, John

Thanks John. I'll figure it out. I'll just have to be more observant with the TuDor's around here.

The 1926 fordor has a substantial amount of wood in the body frame like the '25 fordor, while the 1926 Tudor and coupe have very little wood in the body as they have the new improved all steel body that came out in 1926. I don't know why the fordor did not come out with the all steel version unless they just did not have time to do it, or they had so many unsold 1925 Fordor body's in stock that they decided to carry them over into 1926. the interior trim around the doors of your 1926 tudor are probably identical to the 1926 coupe. Well.... here's what I did. I talked to Liz from Classtique Upholstery. She told me that the 1926 TuDor had a v channel that snapped in on the metal lip at the top door opening. Well, that piece is long gone. So, I made one from some thin aluminum and glued the material to it.

Then crimped it in place.

Thanks Liz.

Mike,
I am pleased that you solved your problem. We learn something new every day. I looked up the Price List of Body Parts book and I think I may have found the strip you mention.

Best regards, John

Thanks John. I'd like to find a 'Price List of Body Parts book' that you are referencing. Could you post a picture of the front of the book. Maybe I can find one over here. Thanks again.

Hello Mike,

I would think that you will no trouble finding the Body Parts Book there in the U.S. Most of the parts vendors have them.
Here is Lang's listing.
Best regards, John
