Iola, Wisconsin. One of my favorite swap meets. Part of the fun is hearing folks up there gripe about how hot it is at 85º.

I used to go to the Iola Show in the late 70's and one time it was so hot I spent most of the time in the beer garden.

Here's my Wisconsin heat story. Back in the mid-nineties when I went to swap meets to peddle my signs, I didn't have a trailer yet and all the signs and display equipment had to be loaded in the Suburban. Setting up was such a job that I had to take a helper with me. So the summer they had the heat wave that killed all those people in Chicago, Mark Kendrick and I arrived at Iola when it was 113º. In those days Mark weighed over 300 pounds, and the heat got to him so much that he lost his lunch. We set up one display rack, tied a tarp to it to make some shade, and sat in the shade drinking a lot of cold pop until after dark when it cooled down to the eighties and we could finish setting up. Fortunately the following days were more like normal Wisconsin weather. That's the only time I've ever experienced real heat up there.

Don't know if I'll go this year as I'm not really looking for anything.
Then again since I just acquired a '65 Mustang coupe you never know....... :-)
If I go I might drive the '19 Touring there again.

We won't be at Iola this year as we're going on the Boone, NC T Tour and it starts the same weekend as Iola. This is only the second time in 40 years that we've missed it. Bummer!

Iola is always an enjoyable event and I hope there are no conflicts so we can make it next year.

Keith
