Wondering how much oil everyone is using in the Warford OD? I've been running an old alum one for several years using gear oil just high enough to cover the bottom shaft and bearings but have never read what is the correct recommended oil level.

I recently experienced an over full condition from engine oil migration thru the fourth main. No wonder I was seeing some oil leakage on the floorboard at the gear shift after a long highway run. Went to check the oil level and after removing the filler plug got a surprise overflow!

I had nothing to go on where to fill my aluminum Warford either, I just filled it up to the inlet on the side. I filled mine with straight Lucas in hopes that the thick clingy oil stuff would help keep it more quiet. I think all it does is help the oil climb the gears and latch onto the shiftfork shafts - and then exit the transmission.

Copies of original Warford literature I have says to fill it to the level of the filling hole with 600-W gear oil or equivalent.
