Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2014: I still understand a little of the English language

And when I was in the military I was tested and found to have a marginally competent IQ of around 135. I graduated from High School and attended a few secondary educational facilities and was able to earn a couple diplomas. So I realize I'm not much to work with and seem a little dense, I still don't understand paragraphs 1060 and 1061 on pages 246 & 247 of the black Ford Service Manual. Are they simply saying they want the clevis to slop around about 1/16" on the pin when all the linkage is set to the correct specifications?

They're saying that with the clutch pedal pulled all the way back, the clutch pedal link should be 1/16 inch too short to allow the pin to be inserted.

Once the link is adjusted to be 1/16 inch short, then allow the clutch pedal to move forward just enough to be able to insert the pin. Then lock the pin with a cotter key (I always put a washer between the outside of the clevis and the cotter key if there is room). Here is a larger picture:

I knew I saw that bit some where about the hand lever pulled back into the neutral position without the parking brakes being applied! :-)

And it all falls into place. And I've got a dirty little secret to tell. I don't really know what my IQ is. But I know I can walk and chew gum at the same time. Oh, oh, yeah, I can rub my belly and pat my head at the same time, but I keep getting nose bleeds. Thanks Mark!

I was a Mensa member when I lived in Ohio and I still don't understand "why" some things are done the way they are. :-)

What they need is a test of common sense not IQ, don't know mine ether, don't think I ever did, if I did it was long forgotten. :-)

Scientist David Suzuki said “What does an IQ score tell us about the enormous human variability that resides in all the people who” score higher than 120 on an IQ test? “They will have just as many stupid, mean, avaricious, generous, caring individuals as any other group.”

Hey Ken, when I was married years ago my wife use to Mensa-something or other. Then she'd have headaches and be mean and hard to get along with. But not so it was much more noticeable than she was when she didn't have the Mensa stuff.

Not only do I drive a T, but I do the work on it too, that is the power of this forum, it an educate even someone with an IQ of 63. If I am honest, I have not been tested, but my sister often claims that my IQ is 30 points higher than hers, and I was present when she tested at 33, so I have to assume that mine is 63.

Mike, I thought your ex was a musician... she played 3 weeks of the blues followed by one week of ragtime.

I wasn't smart enough to Mensa, so I wound up in Densa.

For anyone wanting a good laugh, Google "Mensa" and take their online IQ test.

My ex was always interested in "proving" how smart she was, so she took it and scored 135. Wanting to prove she had something on me, she insisted I take it. I scored 188. I always was the smartest kid in the Dumb Class, but never could get into class for smart kids.

But with questions like: Cake is to clouds, what nickel is to _____ ?

.... what the hell does Mensa prove .... that you understand utterly random relativity ?

LOL... It's the thought process that counts. You don't have to be intelligent, just think smart. They let me in. :-)

To move this back to the original title about understanding a little English.

I understand that English will soon be banned from public schools in Massachusetts.
It will be replaced by Spanish.

IQ is a relative thing. Even a table top has an IQ because it is cooperative and sits there in spite of the lack of response. I've been tested three different times and the results have uniformly come in at 147-148. However, if you test me early in the morning before my pot of coffee, my IQ would be right down there by that table top.
