It is interesting that it is one day only this year, it was Friday and Saturday last year, and cost 6 bucks to get in. It is only one day this year and free to get in. I love this swap meet, so I never had an issue with the admission price or the days. I hope everyone drags their goodies out to sell, because I want to spend some of my money

I well be there, selling - I hope :-) first time ever as a seller.

wish I could go!!!!!!.last time I was there it was in a big parking lot, and only port a pots, kids still in diapers & not disposable.my wife paid her doses'.seeped in car to. I am sure they do better now .charley

Spent the day loading the truck with known stuff to sell, even put labels on everything so Heather can sell and I can buy more stuff. Booked a room at Motel 6 a mile or so down the street so I can be there before 7 am when it opens.
Now I have to scan the barn to see if I can part with any more treasures, hope to see a good crowd.

My wife and I will be there (minus our T) with parts to sell. Our neighbors husband passed away so were helping her clear out his inventory of parts so they go back into rotation and can be used.

We will have a bunch of miscellaneous parts including a few radiators, transmission bands, wheels, steering columns, coil boxes and a bunch of other stuff we have yet to load onto the trailer. Looking forward to a fun day!

Well it's no wonder why the MTFCI site isn't used much. It is extremely slow. There haven't been any new posts since the 20th.

I have tried twice to post information on the 18th, and again on the 22nd, about the LBMTC swap meet. Each time it says my post will appear after it has been reviewed by the moderator. So far, after several days, the posts have not appeared. I guess maybe they consider it advertisement, however there is a similar post about registering and paying for a tour.

I just wanted to let members know about the swap meet, but it doesn't look like very many people visit the forum anyway. Hopefully MTFCI members will see the info here.

I'm under the impression that most of the computer-using-members of M.T.F.C.I. monitor this site regularly. Besides, no matter what you do or how much you advertise the Long Beach Swap you'll get people telling you that you need to advertise the meet more.

Jeff, As a Vendor how early can we get there?

I'm an MTFCI and MTFCA member, and I'm registered on the MTFCI forum, but when I look at the bottom of the page on the MTFCI forum (after I have logged in) there is a message block that says I'm not allowed to reply to threads or create new threads. I tried to edit my profile but didn't see a place to change my posting permissions, how do I get permission to reply to threads and create new threads on the MTFCI forum?

The flyer states vendor set up is at 5:00 AM.

Buyer setup starts at 5am, buyers welcomed at 7 pm.

Alright this will be my 51st visit and I've hauled in some great stuff over the years. There's always some surprises. Thanks Jeff and LBMTFC.

It started out pretty cool this morning with a good overcast and when the sun came out the breeze picked up so it was really comfortable under the canopy.

Growing up in LA, I attended this swap meet as a kid at the "Dust Bowl", or Hamilton Bowl as it was called. I remember running after the Model TT sprinkler truck and jumping on it. I remember camping on the dirt. I remember lots of brass cars being towed to the meet behind "modern" 1950s cars. Post 1915 Model Ts and open Model As were about as scarce as dirt, and a few people were actually finding value in 1932-1934 Fords. I remember the scouts from Harrah's combing the swap meet looking for treasures. I remember sitting by a campfire listening to people discussing who was building what car for next year's Signal Hill Climb. Would Chris Eggsard beat Doc Pruden? Would La Rue Thomas really do that well with his DO creation? I remember loads of speed equipment for sale. I remember a complete Miller OHV engine with twin Winfields selling for 500.00 and hearing everyone say the buyer must be " made of money." NOS parts were the norm, and, not particularly easy to sell if they were newer than 1928. The Long Beach Model T Club Swap Meet is legendary and was the foundation for the hobby as we know it today. I was a member of the club prior to moving out of LA. If it weren't for the members of this club, I would not be involved with the old car hobby today. Thank you, LBMTC.

Steel wheels, headlights in great condition, some hubs, a starter and a generator all made it in my truck. Still need a few parts to really get going, but now closer than ever.

Just got back from the swap meet, it was huge and free to get in and to park. I would venture that there were three times as many guests this year buying than when we charged to get in. By not renting a fence we didn't have to charge admission. We had to get over 300 people to pay to get in just to rent the fence. So now we only rent the porta-potties and wash stations with soap and towels.

Sorry no pictures but there were a lot of cameras there and the posters will post when they get home.

It was a good meet, good stuff hidden in the rust piles.

I wasn't feeling 100 pct this morning and left before I wanted to. Took some pepto and got back out for more bits. Radiator shell, a 5 gallon bucket of small parts and bolts, some 27 spindles for a brake conversion for $15... deals were insane at the end. Great meet. Man was it packed at 6:30am this morning.

Ed, I am in need of one rear wire wheel hub, brake rods, a radiator and a million other parts...

I Got a nice wishbone 10 dollars. A greasey front spring 10 dollars. A NOS Victor head gasket, very cheap. Bosch for 5 dollars, not complete. But I put a pinto electronic head on it. 60,000 volts. A TT high speed gear set at a great price. 3 used fan belts 3 dollars. And a fishing tackle box of old buttons for 10 dollars. My sister is very happy. So Iam back home and need to get a front end together. Thanks you LBMTC for the swap meet. My third year. Scott

Ed, WOW what a find!!! I don't know how I missed those OF's? That had to be the find of the day!

Had a nice visit with RDR, it was great to reconnect! Lots of interesting stuff; big car stuff (Pierce Arrow, Cadillac V12 etc) and a nice selection of Model T and A parts. Missing in action were the commercial vendors( Restoration Supply, Chaffins, Coker Tire although Stan Lucas showed up in a nice Lincoln boat-tail phaeton, etc.) But I understand that it is probably not worth it for a one-day meet. Did seem like a lot of folks wandering the aisles. I got a Pierce Arrow Series 33 (1922) cast aluminum fan and pulley for a good price and my friend got a set of brass topped rebuilt coils.

It was worth the drive.

Thanks to everyone, buyers and sellers, and the LBMTC members who made this swap meet a success. We had many positive comments, very few negative, and almost every vendor that I talked to was very happy with the day.

Since we didn't have a single entrance, and didn't charge admission, we really don't know how many shoppers there were, but for several hours there were so many people that it looked like a day at Disneyland! Lots of parts were going out to the parking lot all day long.

Many of our regular sellers didn't show this year, they told me that they would be there as shoppers but not bother to sell for just one day. I hope that as they were shopping, they realized their mistake and will return next year! This was a very good swap meet. There were many comments heard throughout the day saying that "it's just like the old days!" One lady even told my wife that it was better than Bakersfield!

In spite of some of the local sellers who couldn't be bothered to come for just one day, there were 3 who came from the Sacramento / San Francisco Bay area, 4 from Las Vegas, 3 from Arizona, and one from Idaho! There were several more who drove from as far as 300 miles to be there and were very happy with their sales, some selling nearly everything they brought.

Next year will be bigger and better.

I was too busy keeping things going to take pictures, however there were pictures taken, and I will get them posted soon.

I had a good day at the swap meet getting several items for dirt cheap. My 8 year old daughter had fun also, she likes to look at all the unusual items. She brought three dollars of her own money for spending and picked up a couple of trinkets.

Thank you, Jeff, for heading up this fine event - again. Thanks to the other volunteers, too.

Thanks also to Tom LeRoux, Gene and others for selling the leftovers from my garage sale, Bakersfield and OC swap meets.

Jeff, Thanks for putting on a great event. I sold quite a bit of stuff and bought out another seller at the end of the day. Only negative, I wasn't the one who found the box of OF Strombergs.....I'll be back!

Very nice meet, I'm looking forward to spending even more next year! Thanks to the LBMTC for making this happen.

I thought it was a good meet, had fun and made more money than I thought I would. Stuff I thought would sell did not and the other stuff did :-)here's a couple photo's

couple more Last two are of a metal sign a guy made of my truck. He was selling these last year and he liked my truck. Said he wanted to make one of my truck, this year he had em there - thought it was kind of cool.
