Good Day,
Just noticed an imprinted number inside the door, on metal near floor board edge, of recently acquired 20 T. Is this a body number. Thanks for your interest. The number is 8722395. dave
Dave,
For an early 1920 open car (runabout or touring) Ford it might be a body number as they did not start stamping Assembly Plant numbers until 1926 model year or so.
Please let us know what type of body it is. And is the number on the flat part or the part that slants upwards and in and holds the top two floorboards? If you can post a few photos that may be helpful to you and it will also probably be helpful to us as we try to figure out more about the numbers we find on the cars.
For some previous information about body numbers please see the posting at http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/80257/113666.html?1257654140 that discusses early 1920 Beaudett open cars.
For additional information on the assembly plant numbers please see the posting at: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/80257/111490.html
Respectfully submitted,
