It is unusual that I receive an issue of the VF without reading about it here on the forum first, but that happened with this issue. I received it yesterday and read it from cover to cover last night.

There is a nice article about the recent Homecoming at the Museum. I had a prior commitment at the time, but it looks like I should make time to attend it next year.

There also is an excellent article by "Mr. Thrifty," showing how to rebuild worn-out figure eight shackles. I always thought that would be a major operation, but Steve makes it look easy. I thought his device for holding the shackle halves in the lathe was quite clever. It's a very informative article, all in all.

There is a mention of the MTFCA annual tour next year, celebrating 50 years of the MTFCA. No fee is mentioned for the tour; I wonder whether it will be $50 as was the MTFCI's 50th in Clear Lake, Iowa in '06? :-) I certainly hope so.

Thanks to Jay and Jennifer for another great issue of "Our Magazine."

Mike, I'm treasurer / budget creator for the Cochrane, Alberta Centennial National T Tour and there may well be a $50.00 in the pricing, but 50 years later the dang costs have increased, so, think there will be another number before the $50.00. Pricing still be worked on as we speak, still looking for sponsors to reduce the participants cost.

The MTFCI charged $50 for the tour 8 years ago, to celebrate 50 years as a club. That's one reason I went to that tour. I could afford it.

Charging a boatload of money to attend a tour really turns a lot of us off. Our Arkansas Tin Lizzies club never charges anyone to attend our tours; everyone pays their own way. Why can't the national club do that?
