Hello All,I installed a Texas T Parts distributor.
And the engine runs fine as long as the spark is fully retarted. How ever if I try to advance the timing the engine stalls. It has me scratching my head.Any thoughts, suggestions would very much be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

The Texas T distributor has a centrifugal advance in it and you will never be able to pull your spark lever more than 1/2 way down with that unit.

I've come across one that did that, it turned out it needed a earth wire, could see sparks at night in the linkages as it tried to keep running.

Yes the advance. But run a extra ground wire Dist. To engine or the starter. Screw. It will eliminate the cutting out that seems to happen. From the Dist body being loose in the shaft. It will run tops. All info here on the forum. Brother !

Yes the Texas T parts one does David Mazza you just set it where it runs well and you still have space to retard the timing and it's good.. And yes I put a ground wire on them from the screw for the condenser to a good ground.

I can't speak for other's experience, but I installed a Texas T dizzy on my 1919 Speedster several months ago. I have had no problems with it regarding the advance, or any other aspect. I installed it following the directions to the letter. I hand crank with the spark lever fully retarded and the throttle open about 4 notches. As soon as it starts, I advance the spark about 1/3 of the way down and back-off the throttle a bit. No problems. I was told the centrifugal advance (weights) are locked-down and are inoperative in the unit. I have full range of motion with my spark lever on the quadrant, advancing the lever as RPMs increase. Runs great.

Tom - not sure what the problem may be, but mine works as advertised. I have the ground wire installed as well.
