Brand new car with its first dirt under the rear fender!
Just the way it was delivered, no spare tire.
Dealers often supplied a spare tire and mounted it up for list price but frugal owners put a spare on themselves.

Probably spent all the extra cash for that spare tire to go on that rim by buying those cool set of nickel plated bumpers, front and rear.

Nice B&W photo detail, clearly shows the red pin stripe around the body, many restored Tudors are lacking that.

This brings up a question.
When showing a car, should just the spare rim be shown? That is the way it would have been shipped from FORD. Just asking. Thanks, Dan

Can't think any judging points would be deducted for only a bare rim on the spare tire bracket, when demountable were ordered. Or any points deducted for a tire and tube on that spare rim.

Points judging is on what features each model year T had, as manufactured.

The T was sold by dealers, and they may or may have not installed a tire and tube, on the factory manufactured T that had a spare rim carrier.

Here is one dealer bill of sale listing a spare on a new T.

And here is factory advertising which shows a spare tire on a new T, while the copy in the ad is stating rim and carrier supplied.

While photos of new T in showrooms usually show only the rim on the carrier.

Dan: One reason I ask that is in the ledger that I have from a Ford dealer they list "tire and tube $22.75. This not on every sale, guess T owners were "cheap" than too. :-) Dan

If I remember correctly, a spare tire (and wheel) was an extra cost dealer option for Ford pick-up trucks well into the 1960's, maybe even a little later. So was a rear bumper.

What was the "War Tax"?

The war tax was for the war effort

There is nothing as permanent as a temporary tax.

I remember when I lived in Indiana, they invoked a temporary 2% sales tax. Now it is 7%.

Richard: I guess they were honest, the 2% was temporary.

Just like our temporary 3x3 fuel tax here in New South Wales for road improvements. The tax was not removed, only reference to it was removed. Occasionally you will find an old sign on a lonely country road that still has the sign up on road works completed a long time ago and has not seen any work since.
Politicians how do they get away refering to themselves as "Honorable"?

Peter

Someone asked me if the rubber pads on my pedals were from back in the day. I told him I did not think they were. However, in the invoice above pedal pads were an upgrade. I guess I was wrong.

Is the "Decker wheel" an aftermarket steering wheel? A fat-man or locking type, perhaps? It cost almost as much as a complete speedometer setup.

Decker made accessories - steering wheels & steering wheel locks (anti-theft devices).

Deduct points ! Now that was funny. I love good comedy ! Almost soiled myself.

I would sooner perform self mutilation than concern myself with car shows, judging, and awards !

Really Burger? Many of us here are very concerned about such things. I don't run mirrors, turn signals or brake lights, why should there be a tire on my spare rim? Time for the show judges to crack down.
