Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2014: Fordson pliers - rare?

I picked up this pair of Fordson pliers this morning.

I looks like they originally may have some type of flash plating, perhaps zinc or cadmium. However, it looks a little too bright where the plating is still intact to be either (much brighter than what shows in photo).

Can anybody tell me what years these were supplied with the tractor?

A casual internet search including the MTFCA forum indicates these are hard to come by. Is this true?

80 bucks? I bought a pair of off Ebay for a lot less than that. Twenty dollars, tops. I need a list of tractor shows in your area, Jack, and I'll buy up every Fordson tool I can buy for under $20.00, and head your way.

After my initial post, I researched completed eBay transactions.

$20 to $30 was the range plus shipping.

Several years ago before eBay, the pliers and the screwdriver (scripted) were both hard to find and valuable. I wanted to put together the Fordson tool set to go with my tractor. The pliers and screwdriver eluded me for a long time. I believe that was because they could be used for a lot of repairs around the farm so they were removed from the tool kit and easy to loose. eBay has made things that were once hard to find more common and has brought the price down considerably. I have bought duplicate pliers and the screwdriver for less than $20 on eBay because I thought they were great buys as compared to what they were selling for just a few years ago.

Hmmm... I see an important safety tip:

Don't check for spark with a Fordson screwdriver!

Since I'm not a Fordson guy, I never knew either existed. Thanks for sharing, Erik.
