I just got a new Funprojects 12 volt regulator, but it seems that the generator is putting out too much according to the ammeter. FP recommends adjusting the third brush, which I did to its limit (as far away from the engine block as possible). At a high rate of running, it shows a charge of 10 to 12 (and 20 when it first starts).
Should I readjust the brush plate itself from the outside of the generator and how should I do this for the best possible result? Thanks, Chris
Have you spoken directly to John Regan about it? I have found him to be extremely helpful, both with his products and Model T info in general.
Yep! Call the man and he will coach you through what you need to know and need to do.
First thing is to follow the instructions with the VR to the letter. KGB
From your description I strongly suspect the brush plate "lead" is incorrectly set. Better call John immediately before you destroy the expensive generator AND the Voltage Regulator.

Chris:
The instructions are very specific about the max charge rate and you are way beyond the max capabilities of your generator and the VR also can be damaged depending on what is going on.
