I need to replace the drive gear on the starter bendix. Tips on how you get gear off. I did a search and found nothing. PK

Look inside the round collar,it is staked. Remove the stakes and it just unscrews.

Pat, I cut two bullet head nails really short under the head. The bits of short nail are put in the holes in the nut and become lugs for a large pair of multigrip pliers to engage on. Then you can twist the nut off using the pliers.
