In need of a good reliable covered car carrier to deliver a Model TT from Tennessee to western Penn. About 700 miles. Anyone know of someone who does this, I would appreciate a referral.

Fred,
If it's your firetruck and the ladder brackets move/come off, it could be hauled by Jim or someone with a "normal" trailer. A normal closed cab TT like mine is 7'3", making it too tall for a normal 6'6" trailer. How tall and how long is your truck?

Mike:
Yes the ladders come off and nothing else is over 6'-2". Length is 15' over all. I talked to Jim and without a back haul, he may not get to it for a month or so.
Thanks

Nicholas,

Thank you for thinking of me ... :-)

Fred,

It will be difficult to have that hauled without
paying the unloaded miles required to drive
to the pick up location ...

That trip is well over 1000 miles when you factor
in the unloaded miles ...

Jim

Try Jim Hillman.
Jim and Chris hauled a car for me recently.

I have successfully moved cars around through www.uship.com. You can specify enclosed transport.

FYI

Uship is a transport broker

They collect 15% on average from the " winning " shipper for their " service "

In return - they offer no guarantee that either your vehicle will arrive in the condition it left
in or at the price you are quoted

You cannot talk to prospective bidders before
deciding on who to choose

I have used Uship twice to move cars across US with great success. I communicated with both bidders after they bid and I had not yet accepted their bid. I communicated with others bidders too before rejecting their offer. Usually due to time and date issues.
I have bid on a couple of small moving jobs for others since I was driving a van. I have friends who have moved boats across country, since they were not towing one direction or the other. You can pick up a couple of grand doing that.
Life is full of risks. Like Grandpa used to say, "I should have stood in bed".

Thanks to all who suggested haulers. We found one that could do the job and had a load coming this way.
